If you're a follower of my blog, you know that I mainly focus on cards...yet I always wish I took the time to play more with other types of paper crafts. This week I decided the point of a challenge is to...well, challenge you and so this week I stopped pinning all the cool non-card crafts I wanted to do and make them instead! I looked to the lovely pink, red and white colors and the rose inspiration to make my own little roses....the perfect Valentine's treat for my co-workers! Shhh....don't tell them...it's a surprise.
I cut the roses out using the Big Shot and Stampin' Up's Spiral Flower Die. I used a bone folder to break the fibers of the paper, but pulling the paper between my thumb and bone folder, like you would with curling ribbon. Next, I used Mini Glue Dots to secure the paper every half inch or so as I wound the spiral closed. Next, I hot-glued the kiss into the center of the rose. Then I hot glued a punched flower onto the bottom to give it stability. Then I glued some punched leaves to the base, and the cover that with another punch flower, and viola! About four episodes of "Gilmore Girls" later and I had thirty pretty little flowers with which to sweeten up my co-workers next week.
Another nifty part of this project - I was able to use up tons of scraps from my years of hoarding, er...saving scraps!
